The Beauty of Jesus //
written by: zach smith | 3.19.2026
Jesus is beautiful, but what does that mean?
The splendor of the Son is not in His physical appearance. In fact, the scriptures prophesied that "he had no beauty of majesty to attract us to him". The allure of Jesus instead lies in the revelation of His character, His nature, His life of love, and His divine disclosure of The Father. He is the image of the invisible God, and God was pleased to have all of his fullness dwell in Him.
Psalm 27 expresses David's pleasure to gaze upon the Lord...but David did not see Him with physical eyes. Rather, he meditated on God's words, contemplated God's works and became familiar with God's heart through prayer, worship and reflection in the aiding presence of the living God he beheld Him with spiritual eyes. And "spiritual" does not mean, in any sense, less real.
David looked upon Him and what he saw was so beautiful and so valuable that he wrote, "this one thing I ask...that I may gaze upon the beauty of the Lord".
Adoration necessitates delight. His radiance is transformational; We behold Him, and we become like Him. But we need eyes to see.

One thing have I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord
and to inquire in his temple.
Psalm 27:4
